Hunters last high school hockey game

February 25, 2023 Regional playoffs vs Alpena in front of 2500 fans. This is not the way we wanted Hunters 4 years of Trojans Hockey to end.

A bad collision with Tyler Cooper sent Hunter to the ER on a stretcher. So many people rushed out on the ice to help out, even Alpena fans who are doctors. They were afraid of a spinal injury and even talked about flying him out on a helicopter downstate. Thank God they didn’t need to do that. A few CT scans later and we were headed home.

Hunter continued to have concussion symptoms, which came on 24 hours after the accident. Back to the doctor who ordered another CT scan, which came out fine again. Diagnosed with a bad concussion. Hunter has been in Pt for a few weeks and started going to the chiropractor to try and correct what’s going on causing him headaches, light sensitivity and nausea. Hoping he’ll start seeing relief soon.

So many people have reached out to see how Hunter is doing including the Alpena coaches.

Posted March 4, 2023 It’s been a week since Hunters on ice collision and he is still dealing with frustrating concussion symptoms. These symptoms were delayed and continually got worse after the initial hit, (he went to the hospital originally for possible neck/spine injury, which checked out fine). Back to the Dr. last Tuesday who sent us back to the hospital for another CT Scan to make sure nothing more serious was going on.

Diagnosed with a bad concussion his symptoms have been; headache (different than his migraines), eye light sensitivity, pupils weren’t responding normally (small pupils), pure exhaustion. He’s missed a week of school and dr didn’t want him going back until his headaches and eyes are noticeably better. TCC’s athletic trainer has been wonderful and worked with him the other day and will continue to do so if we need her to.

He’s gone out of the house a couple times for appts and today a massage which totally wipes him out and he’s in bed early for the night. This is not the night owl Hunter we’re used to. Hoping next week to get some PT started to help more with these symptoms and to get him back to normal. He doesn’t have any hockey for a little while so he can actually take the time to rest and heal.

This is our first experience with a concussion and they are not fun or easy to heal from.

At the hospital a few days later to get another CT scan
