Watching Hunter come out of the locker room as a freshman, just seeing his smile we knew he made it, wow, what a feeling!
Then Hunters first high school goal as a freshman came up in Houghton- OT game winner to beat Houghton for the first time. We were all so freaking excited!! Couldn’t have been a more perfect time to get your first goal. Grandpa bought everybody a round at the bar afterwards, he was beaming with pride that his grandson scored the game winner.
So many ups and downs through the years but it’s all part of your journey. To say I will miss you playing hockey as a Trojan is a huge understatement. I honestly don’t know how to handle it when next hockey season comes and you aren’t out there on the ice.
Your name was called in the starting lineup like it has been many, many times over the years, but this was the last time we’ll hear your name announced at Howe. And then hearing your name announced again for scoring a goal at Howe Arena and the cheers of the student section and fans was a perfect way to end your senior night.
One of my favorite moments was when you scored against West as a freshmen and the student section chanted, “He’s a Freshman!” Seeing you line up against Tyler after that goal and you guys were talking, what a cool memory.
But here we are, Senior Night 2023, it’s been an emotional day, for mom, and will continue to be, but I wouldn’t change this journey, these moments, all the memories, for anything- I have loved every single part of it!! I can’t wait to see where your journey takes you, and remember I will ALWAYS be your biggest #1 fan!!
