HAPPY TURKEY DAY

Every year we look forward to the expectant activities on Thanksgiving Day like, turkey, stuffing, pie, family, but what makes Holidays fun is the unexpectant that happens.

This year we went to Grandpa and Grandma Mark/Lori's house for Thanksgiving; something that will probably be tradition for us for years to come now that they have moved up to T.C.. We were the first to arrive, and upon walking in we noticed that the house was a little smokey, but that was just the beginning. As the hours passed and the turkey still not done, the smoke was getting a little more pronounced in the house. Finally almost 2 hours after it was supposed to be cooked, the turkey finally popped. While Grandpa Mark took the turkey out of the oven, the "throw away pan" was filled to the brim with liquid an in turn started spilling more over the side onto the oven, making the house fill up with more and more smoke. If you were driving down the road and looked at the house you probably would have thought that the turkey was burnt or the house was on fire. We had the sliding door open, the front door open, the windows open, the ceiling fan and microwave fan all going to try and clear the house of smoke, all while laughing and trying to get fresh air ourselves.

So the moral of the story is....... NEVER use the throw away pans on a 21 lb turkey when you have a very sturdy turkey pan that you didn't want to use because it would mean one more thing to clean. Instead of just having a turkey pan to clean, Grandma Lori was not looking forward to cleaning her oven of only 5 months the next day.

We did have some fun in the evening though playing homemade pictionary/charades. See photos and video below.
