Bye Bye Rocky

"Daddy, I want to keep him", those were the words that Hunter said to Jason when Jason was leaving to find the big black dogs home.

When Jason got home from work and went to let the dogs out, there was something staring back at him from outside on the deck. It was a big black newfoundland dog (not sure how you spell it). This dog was the nicest, most gentleist dogs, with a huge head and to quote Hunter "this dog has a BIG weewee". From that comment you know this dog was male, and our dogs are both female, so Hunter isn't used to seeing that. If we didn't have Sage and Skye, I would have kept him for our pet. We let him inside where he behaved very good. He wanted to play with Sage, but Sage didn't really want anything to do with him. We weren't sure of his name, since he didn't have a collar on, so Hunter named him Spiderman and Frank, I liked calling him Batman or Bear, but his real name was Rocky. Jason spent about 4 hours all together trying to find this dogs home. Dan and Jill across the street were kind enough to go out with Jason almost door to door to find this poor dogs home. They ended up finding his home on a very dark rd., River Rd., probably about a mile from us through the back of our woods. It's amazing how dogs show up on peoples doorsteps that love dogs. This isn't the first time a dog has come to our house for shelter, we had a beagle last winter also show up on our front porch. They must know we will do everything we can to help them find their home.

We will miss you Rocky, Spiderman, Frank, Batman or Bear and hope that you are happy to be back home. (Although by how Jason described where he lived and the family there, I wish we could have found him a different home.)

Newfs ARE the gentlest most wonderful dogs in the world.

We are considered experts on them, since we happen to be newfs ourselves.
