Dig, dig, dig

This year I decided that I will actually plant the three beautiful mums I bought for the fall instead of forgetting to water them and having them get bit by the frosts and then eventually die lonely in their pots only to be thrown away and never to be seen again.  By planting them, they will have a new home in the nice, cozy soil and be ready to bloom next year bigger and better than they ever could in their previous homes of their little pots.  Man, if I would have done this years ago, the landscaping on the side of our house would be nothing but big colorful mums.  Along with the mums, I had bulbs to get in the ground and I was running out of time.  I knew that the weather would quickly be turning and our days of getting outside to do this dirt-y work were numbered.

Having 2 boys who are ever so willing to help, well, if I don't atleast let the little one think he's helping he can be quite the little tornado and tear up more stuff then help, so hand him some 'safe' tools and let him go digging and think he's helping.  Here is what our planting looked like:

Although Hunter did a great job at digging holes for our mums, he dug about 10 holes too many,
so he was in charge of filling them back in.

So what if he's digging with an ice scrapper,
he doesn't know the difference!

Has to be like big brother and try out the big shovel

So if you have kids and are ever in need of making many big and small holes in the dirt for planting, give them a shovel and some tools and let them go dig in the dirt that way you won't have to do all the digging!  That's my secret!
